June 18, 2009 – The  Outsider Straps
Did you happen to notice the handful of NHL goaltenders that had a slightly different look to their masks near the end of the regular season? That’s because Doug Wager from Weasel Head, who is responsible for the beautiful mask artwork for Antero Niittymaki, has created what are known as the Outsider straps.

He’s been in the business for a long time, but is known best for creating Cujo’s well-known mask artwork. He’s also responsible for the incredibly detailed Andrew Raycroft Leafs mask – which was done entirely in blue and white.

InGoalMag does it again as they jump on the horn with mask artist Ray Bishop just one day after Miller wore it for the first time against the Red Wings on Versus. Bishop goes into detail about the new mask and how both he and Miller worked together on the artistic side of the mask.
